Our History
Jeremy Gonsalves launched Island Life Bike Rentals in early 2017 by acquiring a handful of smaller south-end shops, starting with around 200 bikes at 36 South Forest Beach Drive Hilton Head. Scaling thoughtfully to maintain top-tier service, we grew the fleet to a robust 2,200 bikes today through strategic expansion and in-house expertise. In February 2024, we acquired Island Explorer charter outfit, merging bike adventures with dolphin tours for a full land-and-sea experience—now operating as one seamless outfitter from prime spots like Broad Creek.

Leading our dolphin tours are 4 seasoned USCG Master‑licensed captains who share a deep passion for the water and for sharing it with our guests. They specialize in safe, intimate wildlife cruises on nimble 12–14‑passenger boats, whether running Vanishing Island trips or guiding sunset dolphin and nature outings from Broad Creek, always prioritizing respect for marine life and memorable experiences for all ages.
Our Fleet and Operations
We proudly maintain a robust fleet of 2,200 bikes, featuring everything from comfortable beach cruisers and throttle/pedal-assist e-bikes to kids' bikes, trikes, and attachments for real family fun. Safety and performance come first—we prioritize rigorous annual maintenance, rebuilding our entire fleet and assembling new bikes in-house to ensure every rental is in peak condition. Our streamlined processes keep operations smooth and efficient: island-wide delivery to beaches like Coligny and Palmetto Dunes, plus convenient self-pickup at key spots such as 36 South Forest Beach Drive, 119 Arrow Road, and 101 Marshland Road. On a typical peak summer Saturday, our team moves nearly 1,200 bikes by 4pm, fueling adventures for our vacationers along 60 miles of scenic paths and trails.
